About Marvin
Marvin Jones Jr. is a South Florida native and a five-star student-athlete, graduating from American Heritage in Plantation, Florida. Jones had a solid season for American Heritage, notching 46 tackles, six tackles for loss and five sacks during his last highschool season.
Jones Jr. is ranked the number one pass rusher in the country, and ranked 19 nationally. A fluid, coordinated pass rusher. Turns tight corners at high speeds and shows the flexibility to dip and bend around the edge. Uses his quick hands to swat and disengage from offensive tackles in pass rush situations. Capable of affecting passing lanes with his instincts and athleticism. Has shown the ability to be a strong pursuit defender when engaged.
In his last season for American Heritage, Jones Jr. was primarily a stand-up edge rusher. In addition to his defensive prowess, Jones Jr. played tight end, totally 63 receiving yards and a touchdown. He helped American Heritage qualify for state playoffs.
Football runs in Jones Jr.’s blood. His father is football legend Marvin Jones, All-American linebacker from Florida State University. His mother, Alexsandra Jones ran track at University of Miami. Jones Jr.’s brother, Daryl Porter Jr., is a redshirt Sophomore Defensive Back at West Virginia University.
In 2019, Jones Jr. played offense and defense for American Heritage—they went 10-2 and made the third round in the playoffs. In 2020, Jones Jr. was awarded a 5A-Ind first-team selection by the Miami Herald. He started at end for American Heritage that season, a squad that gave up just 11.2 points per game and nabbed them a state championship. And in 2021, Jones Jr. was a CBS4 Nat Moore Trophy finalist. Was selected to play in the All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas.
Football — not just the game, but the dream — began when Marvin was six years old. When Marvin’s mom Alexsandra wasn’t shepherding him to classes and practice and training, Marvin was playing football with his older brother Daryl.
